Sticky situations

1. Explain how you developed your ideas for "Sticky Situation"

Well, first i thought of some ideas on my own and then i brainstormed in a group. All the ideas i got were too original so i knew i had to think of something different and i came up with honey.

2. Were you able to think outside the box when you were thinking about ideas?

I think so but i dont know how random mine was.

3. You were to incorporate repetition, rhytnm or pattern. How did you accomplish this?

I drew alot of bees around the hive. They were each all different sizes.

4. Describe your choice of media (acrylic, watercolor) and your challenges and successes while using it.

I used acrylic paint and the hardest part for me was blending the colors.

5. How important were the mini lessons to the success of your final product?

Very important because without them i wouldnt know how to paint the right way.

Up close and personal

1. Upclose and Personal was our theme. How did you develop your ideas for this project and why did you choose your subject?

I chose the ladybug because when i think if up close i think of a small thing like a big.

2. How did you demonstrate Emphasis in your work?

I used complimentary colors to show the different values in both the ladybug and the leaves.

3. What medium did you decide to use and why did you choose this medium over the others? Discuss how it enhances your piece.

I chose prisma colors because they are easy to blend with each other and an overall easy medium to use. The other reason is that it is less messy than the other mediums.

We encourage risk taking in art. Risk taking can be as simple as trying a new technique or learning about a new medium to as complex as trying something totally new.

4.. Did you take any risks with this project? Explain.
I did go darker than i usually do in this piece of art. On te shadow i took a risk and made it dark with a purple and it turned out pretty good.
5. Of the 5 characteristics of great art (technique, concept, emotion, new, medium) which did you include in your art?

I used medium and technique to make my ladybug. My technique is alot different from everyone elses so mine stood out alot from everyones.

Whats the point

 1. What where some of your solutions to What’s the Point?

- bow and arrow, mountains, push pins, point of view of animals

2. Which solution did you chose and why? i chose mountains because theyall have  a really good amount of contrast in shading.

3. How did you show contrast in your work?  Different shades of darkness and lightness mixed together making different parts look lighter than others

4. What medium did you decide to use? Why did you choose this medium over the others? i chose pencil because it is much easier to work with and shows more contrast then pen in my perspective

5. What techniques did you use to create this work?

I used Cross hatching and stippling.

We encourage risk taking in art. Risk taking can be as simple as trying a new technique or learning about a new medium to as complex as trying something totally new.

6. Did you take any risks with this project?  I did by going darker and darker to make more contrast even tho i wanted to stay lighter at first.

7. What message are you conveying? How are you convey this message through the use of your images or use of art elements or principles?   I am trying to show what the mountains look-like when   the sun hits them from a certain angle. I showed it by making certain parts of the mountains darker than others.

Stencil drawing

For my stencil drawing i picked mount rushmore and changed the threshold so i could see what i wanted to cut out with my xactoknife after i sketched it out.  When i cut all the parts out i then spraypainted it in black.  My background was a collage of all sorts of creatures in the wild and used watercolor to make it look blue and green.

Game drawing

For my game drawing i started out with a monopoly board and placed pieces around it.  I took a picture of the board horizontal and then used 2 point perspective to sketch what it looked like.  i used watercolor and lightly went over all the colors that were in the picture.  Then i used colored pencils and shaded all the colors and colored all the white space in.

anamorphosis drawing

First i found an image of what i wanted to do for my anamorphosis and then transformed the scale of the image in  photoshop to where my picture was elongated.  Then i drew a grid on the picture and in my sketchbook so i could sketch the image in the appropriate spot.  I colored it in with colored pencils and added different values to my sketch.  I added a shadow in the back to show the picture was standing up and took a picture of it in a place where it looked like the sketch was 3D.
