1. Explain the process you went through to develop your drawing.
I went through a series of layers with pencil from light to dark.  From looking at it now I did not go dark enough.  You had to make shapes where the light hit the face and after you got the shapes then you use your shading scale to shade the face.

2. Explain how you found the different values in the portrait?
I made a shape around the light spots.  Then I shaded the shapes that were really light colored first then shaded the dark spots.  The light showed the spots that were light and from that spot it darkened from the inside out.

3.  Did you achieve a full range of the different values within your portrait?  How?
I achieved different values by finding the light spots that stood out.  The spots that were bright got darker as it spreads out.  The values throughout the portrait are all different because the light hit on all different parts.

4. Describe your craftsmanship.  Is the artwork executed and crafted neatly?
I think i couldve done better because i can barely see the shading in my portrait.  My shading needed to be darker to show more emphasis.  It is as neat as i could get it but it couldve been neater.

5. List any obstacles you had to overcome and how you dealt with them.
My paper kept moving and i couldn't match up the lines.  The shapes i made on the nose came out unproportional.  The ear didnt come out on the right side of her face so i had to draw it to the best of my abilities.

Value Study

1. Describe your overall thoughts on the final piece.
-I though it looked pretty cool. It was kinda fun.
2. if this was a group project, what was your contribution?

3. How successful do you feel this piece is and why?
-I think its successful for me considering it is the best by far of all my art work so far in this class.  I thought the shading looked really good cuz the colors blended well.
4. What worked about this project? What didn’t work?
-I thought the cone worked out really good cuz it looked good but i didn't think the dark blue, light blue and gray went together in the sphere cuz the sphere looked really odd.
5. If you were to do this project over again, what changes would you consider making?
-I would move the shapes to different places on the paper cuz where i placed them didnt look so good.
6. What was the most difficult part about completing this piece and why?
-Shading the sphere and the cube was the hardest part because whenever i did it it just looked sloppy.
7. What did you learn from this piece?
-I learned that shading makes art better
